Symptoms of Breast Cancer
A friend of mine has developed a breast lump, and we are concerned it might be breast cancer. Could you please tell me, Doctor, what are the symptoms of breast cancer?

Common symptoms of breast cancer include breast lumps, nipple discharge, changes in breast skin, abnormal nipple appearance, and swollen lymph nodes.
1. Breast lumps: Breast lumps are a common symptom of breast cancer. These lumps are usually located in the upper outer quadrant of the breast. They are typically firm in texture, with irregular edges, uneven surfaces, and are difficult to move.
2. Nipple discharge: Some patients with breast cancer may experience nipple discharge, which may contain blood, serous fluid, or watery substances.
3. Changes in breast skin: Breast cancer can cause various changes in the breast skin, such as indentation, wrinkling, an orange peel-like appearance, or ulcers.
4. Abnormal nipple appearance: When breast cancer occurs in the nipple or areola area, it may pull the nipple, causing retraction or inversion of the nipple.
5. Swollen lymph nodes: Patients with breast cancer may develop swollen lymph nodes in the axillary or subclavicular regions. As the disease progresses, the lymph nodes may increase in size and number and eventually fuse and become fixed.
Women are advised to undergo regular breast examinations for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
