Can people with type 2 diabetes eat fried dough sticks (youtiao)?
I've had type 2 diabetes for quite some time. I used to often eat deep-fried dough sticks (youtiao) for breakfast, but now I'm afraid to eat them indiscriminately. In my condition, am I allowed to eat youtiao at all?

Under normal circumstances, individuals with type 2 diabetes can eat fried dough sticks (youtiao), but should consume them in moderation.
As a fried food, youtiao is relatively high in both calories and fat. Patients with diabetes need to control their total daily caloric intake and ensure balanced nutrient distribution. If blood glucose levels are well managed, occasional and limited consumption of youtiao may be acceptable. However, intake of other high-calorie, high-fat foods should be reduced accordingly, and post-meal blood glucose levels should be monitored to prevent significant fluctuations in blood sugar.
If blood glucose control is unstable, or if youtiao is consumed in excessive amounts, it may lead to excessive calorie intake, which can affect blood glucose levels and potentially increase the risk of diabetes-related complications. Diabetic patients are advised to choose foods rich in unsaturated fats and complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains, nuts, and fish.
It is also recommended that patients with type 2 diabetes focus on comprehensive lifestyle improvements, including regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, and routine blood glucose monitoring, to effectively manage diabetes.
