Hard lumps accompanied by pain in the breast during lactation are usually caused by milk stasis or mastitis. These conditions can generally be improved through methods such as applying warm compresses, massage, expressing milk, and medication.

It is recommended to apply warm compresses to the breast using a warm towel, combined with professional massage techniques, to help unclog milk ducts, promote milk expression, and relieve pain. Increasing the frequency of breastfeeding or using a breast pump to express milk can reduce milk stasis and lower the risk of mastitis. Lactating women should maintain breast hygiene to avoid infection and develop a habit of feeding at regular intervals.

Gently massage the breast from the outer area toward the nipple to help express milk, but avoid applying excessive pressure. Stay relaxed while breastfeeding to facilitate smooth milk flow. Ensure adequate rest and fluid intake, which supports milk production and overall health.

If the lump and pain persist, lactation-regulating granules or cephalosporin antibiotics may be used under a doctor's guidance. If symptoms are severe or do not improve, prompt medical consultation is advised for diagnostic tests such as breast ultrasound and blood tests, followed by appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause.
