Dr. Shen Yonghua

Diarrhea refers to a condition of diarrhea caused by consuming expired food, which may lead to symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. Measures such as immediately stopping food intake, replenishing fluids, adjusting diet, resting properly, and medication treatment can be taken.

1. Immediately stop eating: Once expired food is consumed and discomfort symptoms occur, eating should be stopped immediately to avoid further intake of harmful substances and to prevent additional strain on the gastrointestinal system.

2. Replenish fluids: Vomiting and diarrhea can cause significant fluid loss in the body; therefore, fluids must be replenished promptly to prevent dehydration. Drinking lightly salted water, sugar water, or sports drinks can help restore electrolytes and body fluids.

3. Adjust diet: Until symptoms improve, avoid consuming oily, spicy, or irritating foods, which may worsen gastrointestinal discomfort. Instead, consume bland and easily digestible foods.

4. Rest properly: Vomiting and diarrhea can consume a large amount of energy, so adequate rest should be taken to avoid excessive fatigue, which helps the body recover.

5. Medication treatment: If symptoms are severe, anti-diarrheal and antiemetic medications such as montmorillonite powder or loperamide hydrochloride capsules may be used under a doctor's guidance.

In daily life, consumption of expired food should be avoided as much as possible to prevent health problems such as food poisoning.
