I am a 25-year-old female. Recently, I have been wearing shapewear frequently to achieve a slimmer figure, but I have noticed some difficulty breathing and a feeling of pressure around my waist. I'm wondering whether long-term use of shapewear may cause harm to my body. Is wearing shapewear harmful to one's health?
Wearing tight-fitting clothing may cause certain harm to the body, especially when worn for extended periods. Such clothing can restrict natural body movements and affect blood circulation and respiratory function. Garments that are too tight may compress internal organs, leading to indigestion, abdominal discomfort, or even impaired heart and lung function. In addition, keeping the skin in a constantly stretched state may prevent sweat from being excreted properly, increasing the risk of infections or skin problems. Although wearing tight clothing for short periods may not cause obvious problems, long-term dependence on such garments may have negative health effects.
To avoid these risks, it is recommended to choose appropriate clothing. Select well-fitting, elastic, and breathable garments, and avoid wearing them for prolonged periods to reduce physical constriction.
