Disease description:

My platelet count has been consistently low. This time during my menstrual period, the bleeding has been extremely heavy. It's already been四五天 (four to five days) and there's still no sign of stopping. Is it because of my low platelet count that I'm unable to stop the bleeding?

Menstruation refers to a woman's monthly period. Generally, having a low platelet count during menstruation may lead to difficulties in stopping the bleeding.

Platelets adhere to each other at sites of vascular injury and form white blood clots, thereby sealing wounds and promoting localized hemostasis. When the number or function of platelets is abnormal, their ability to stop bleeding may be compromised, potentially leading to bleeding symptoms. In women with low platelet counts, menstrual bleeding may increase in volume and duration, and there may even be difficulties in stopping the bleeding.

If you suspect you have a low platelet count and notice menstrual abnormalities, such as a sudden increase in flow, prolonged menstrual period, or other associated bleeding symptoms, you should seek medical attention promptly. Relevant examinations, such as complete blood count and platelet count, should be conducted to confirm the diagnosis and guide treatment according to medical advice. Treatment options may include platelet transfusions, use of hemostatic medications, and other measures aimed at preventing severe bleeding events.

In daily life, women are advised to ensure adequate rest, avoid strenuous exercise, and refrain from activities that may cause injuries, in order to reduce vascular damage and alleviate bleeding symptoms.
