What Causes Frequent Nightmares?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been frequently having nightmares at night and waking up frightened. What could be causing these recurring nightmares?
Frequent nightmares are associated with dysregulation of neuronal activity in the brain. Excessive daytime stimulation, heightened mental tension, significant stress, or prolonged cognitive exertion can lead to persistently elevated neuronal excitability, which fails to subside adequately during sleep—thereby increasing the likelihood of nightmares. Management involves regulating negative emotions, ensuring adequate rest, balancing work and relaxation, and avoiding excessive fatigue.
