How long after eye surgery can I apply makeup?
I had comprehensive eye surgery, and my doctor told me to pay attention to post-operative care to aid recovery. It has been more than a week now, and I would like to know when I can start wearing makeup again.

It is generally recommended to wait about 3 months after comprehensive eye surgery before resuming makeup application.
Comprehensive eye surgery, as a refined cosmetic procedure, aims to address multiple eye concerns such as double eyelids, under-eye bags, and drooping eye corners through a single operation, achieving overall aesthetic improvement. The recovery period following comprehensive eye surgery varies from person to person and is generally divided into three phases: the acute swelling phase, the chronic swelling phase, and the full recovery phase.
The acute swelling phase usually lasts within the first 1–2 weeks after surgery. During this time, noticeable swelling and bruising may occur around the eyes. Makeup should be avoided at this stage, as chemical ingredients in cosmetics may irritate the surgical wounds and interfere with healing. The chronic swelling phase typically lasts up to 4–6 weeks post-surgery. Although swelling is significantly reduced during this phase, the use of eye cosmetics should still be avoided.
The full recovery phase generally begins around 3 months after surgery. At this point, the ocular tissues are mostly stabilized, and patients may gradually begin to resume makeup application. However, if there is still noticeable redness, inflammation, or swelling in the eyes, it is advisable to continue waiting to avoid irritation from cosmetics.
It is important to choose high-quality cosmetics and avoid using expired or inferior products. Additionally, makeup should be promptly removed after application to maintain cleanliness and hygiene around the eyes. During the postoperative recovery period, special attention should be given to ocular hygiene and care to prevent infections and other complications.
