Advil Sustained-Release Capsules effectively reduce fever by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis to lower body temperature. The sustained-release formulation lasts 8–12 hours, making it suitable for managing moderate fever, but must be taken as directed. Compared to regular tablets, it releases more slowly, maintaining stable blood drug levels and reducing gastrointestinal irritation, but must be swallowed whole without breaking. If body temperature remains elevated or exceeds 39.5°C, physical cooling methods or medication adjustments may be necessary.

Strictly follow the prescribed dosage from a physician or as indicated in the package insert; the daily dose should not exceed 1200 mg. Drink plenty of water during fever to accelerate metabolism, and avoid taking on an empty stomach to reduce stomach discomfort. The sustained-release capsule must be swallowed whole and should not be chewed or crushed, to prevent disruption of the sustained-release mechanism and potential side effects. Immediately discontinue use and seek medical attention if allergic reactions such as rash or difficulty breathing occur. Use only under a physician's evaluation for children, patients with impaired liver or kidney function, or those with asthma. After fever subsides, continue monitoring body temperature; if fever recurs within 48 hours or is accompanied by confusion, chest pain, or other concerning symptoms, promptly seek medical care to investigate possible infection or other underlying causes.
