Disease description:

I had a thread lift for my double eyelids a few days ago, and my eyes are still somewhat swollen. I heard that applying warm compresses can help reduce swelling faster, but I'm worried about doing it at the wrong time and affecting the healing process. I'd like to know when I can start using warm compresses after having a thread lift for my double eyelids.

Warm compresses are usually recommended 72 hours after sutured double eyelid surgery, although the exact timing may vary from person to person.

Generally, after sutured double eyelid surgery, some degree of swelling and mild pain around the eyes is normal. To promote recovery and reduce swelling, applying warm compresses at the appropriate time can be very helpful. Typically, warm compresses are advised to begin no earlier than 72 hours post-surgery.

During the first 72 hours after sutured double eyelid surgery, noticeable swelling and bruising may occur due to surgical trauma and local inflammatory responses. At this stage, cold compresses can effectively reduce swelling, alleviate pain, and aid in initial wound healing.

When applying warm compresses, care should be taken to ensure the temperature is not too high to avoid burns. The warmth should feel comfortable against the back of the hand. Clean towels or specialized eye masks should be used to prevent infection. Each warm compress session should last approximately 15 to 20 minutes and can be repeated several times daily, but overuse should be avoided.

During the recovery period, it is also important to maintain good hygiene around the eyes, avoid excessive eye strain, refrain from rubbing the eyes, and avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods, in order to promote healing and achieve optimal results.
