In general, it is acceptable for pregnant women to consume pomelo in moderation during the late stages of pregnancy, although excessive consumption is not recommended.

As a nutrient-rich fruit, pomelo contains abundant amounts of vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, antioxidants, and other beneficial components, which can help support the health of both the mother and the fetus. However, during late pregnancy, the rapid growth and development of the fetus, along with an enlarged uterine volume, may affect the mother's gastrointestinal digestive function. Excessive pomelo consumption at this stage could burden the digestive system, potentially causing indigestion, bloating, or other discomforts. Moreover, pomelo is considered cold in nature, and overconsumption may harm the spleen and stomach, leading to abdominal pain, diarrhea, or other adverse effects. Although pomelo is low in calories, excessive intake may also result in excessive sugar consumption. Pregnant women who are at risk for gestational diabetes should therefore monitor and limit their intake carefully.

During the late stages of pregnancy, women should focus on maintaining a balanced diet and consume adequate amounts of foods rich in protein, iron, calcium, and other essential nutrients to meet the demands of fetal growth and development. Additionally, regular prenatal checkups are important to monitor fetal development and ensure the well-being of both mother and baby.
