When choosing a method for double eyelid surgery, both the suture technique and the incisional technique have their own advantages. Both are generally effective, and the appropriate method should be selected based on individual circumstances and under the guidance of a physician.

The suture technique is suitable for individuals with relatively thin upper eyelid skin and minimal fat. This method creates a double eyelid crease by attaching the skin to the tarsal plate or levator aponeurosis using sutures. Advantages include minimal trauma, rapid recovery, almost no visible scarring, and a short operative time. However, the effect may diminish over time, and it has higher requirements for baseline eyelid conditions, making it unsuitable for individuals with loose eyelids or excessive fat.

The incisional technique offers comprehensive functionality, including removal of skin, fat, and muscle, and allows adjustment of the levator muscle. It is suitable for individuals with puffy eyelids or loose skin. The postoperative double eyelid appearance is natural and long-lasting. However, this method involves greater trauma, a higher risk of bleeding, oozing, and postoperative hematoma, slower recovery, prolonged swelling, and possible scar hypertrophy during the later healing phase.

Regardless of the chosen method, the decision should be made after a consultation with a qualified physician to ensure surgical effectiveness and patient safety.
