Can dental fillings be cleaned during a dental cleaning?
I had a tooth filled before, and I want to go for a dental cleaning recently. However, I'm worried that dental cleaning might affect the filled tooth. So, in my case, is it still okay to have a dental cleaning after having a filling?

In general, it is acceptable to have a dental cleaning after a tooth filling.
Tooth fillings are primarily used to repair cavities or damage on the tooth surface by filling the damaged areas with restorative materials, restoring the tooth's shape and function. Dental cleaning, also known as scaling, is a method to remove dental plaque and tartar from the tooth surface, maintain oral hygiene, and prevent periodontal disease. Fillings and dental cleanings are two different dental treatments, but they are not mutually exclusive and often complement each other in many situations.
Dental cleaning allows for an overall assessment of dental health, helping identify other potential problems such as periodontitis, which can then be addressed promptly to avoid affecting the filling. Additionally, dental cleaning maintains oral cleanliness and reduces bacterial growth, helping protect the filled tooth. However, during the cleaning, the dentist needs to be especially careful around the filled area to avoid unnecessary wear or damage to the filling material.
After dental cleaning, teeth may feel somewhat sensitive. Avoid consuming very cold, hot, or acidic foods for a short period and allow the teeth some time to adjust. At the same time, maintain good oral hygiene, but avoid brushing too vigorously to prevent irritating the cleaned gums.
