What are the contraindications for taking Jinlangsheng Throat Treasure?
I am a 32-year-old female. Recently, I have been experiencing some discomfort in my throat, and a friend recommended Jin Shui Lian (Jin Shui Lian is a Chinese herbal medicine for throat discomfort). However, I noticed there are many precautions listed in the instructions, and I am concerned whether it might not be suitable for me. I would like to know the contraindications for using Jin Shui Lian.

The contraindications for using Jinsuihou Bao (Golden Throat Treasure) mainly include specific populations and particular conditions. Jinsuihou Bao contains ingredients such as menthol and star anise oil; its use by pregnant women may cause miscarriage, premature birth, or fetal malformations, therefore it is contraindicated for pregnant women. Additionally, because Jinsuihou Bao has a cooling nature, individuals experiencing sore throat caused by wind-cold type colds should use it cautiously as it may worsen their condition. For patients with diabetes, since Jinsuihou Bao contains sugar, long-term use may lead to elevated blood glucose levels; therefore, diabetic patients should take it under the guidance of a physician. It is also not recommended to take Jinsuihou Bao during episodes of diarrhea, as its ingredients may exacerbate gastrointestinal discomfort. Individuals allergic to any components of Jinsuihou Bao should avoid using it to prevent allergic reactions.
During the use of Jinsuihou Bao, smoking, alcohol consumption, spicy foods, and fish or mutton with a fishy odor should be avoided, as these may irritate the throat and affect the drug's effectiveness. If symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for three days, medical attention should be sought promptly. Moreover, Jinsuihou Bao should not be taken concurrently with warming and nourishing Chinese herbal medicines, as this may counteract their effects. Children must use this product under adult supervision, and the medication should be stored out of children's reach. If you are currently taking other medications, you should consult a physician or pharmacist before using Jinsuihou Bao to avoid potential drug interactions.
