Bitter taste in the throat is often caused by indigestion, excess stomach acid, or bile reflux. It can be managed through dietary adjustments, improved lifestyle habits, and medication treatment.

Avoid spicy, greasy, and overly sweet foods, reduce intake of coffee and alcohol, and consume more vegetables and fruits to maintain a light diet. Do not lie down immediately after meals; remain upright for at least two hours, and avoid eating large amounts of food before bedtime. Maintain a regular routine and avoid staying up late, as chronic late nights may lead to excessive internal heat in the liver, which can trigger a bitter taste in the mouth.

The diet should primarily be light, with increased intake of fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoidance of overly greasy food or overeating. Particularly for dinner, there should be a gap of more than four hours before sleep, to prevent bitter taste caused by indigestion.

Depending on the underlying cause, take appropriate medications under a doctor's guidance. For example, for upper respiratory tract infections, medications such as Pudi Lan Xiao Yan Oral Liquid or Cefuroxime may be used; for chronic gastritis, medications like Omeprazole may be taken to protect the gastric mucosa; for patients with severe cholecystitis, anti-inflammatory and bile-promoting medications such as Xiaoyan Lidan Tablets may be prescribed, or surgical treatment might be necessary.
