Is it normal to always lose eyelashes?
Recently, I have been losing several eyelashes each day. More fall out when washing my face or rubbing my eyes, and even when looking in the mirror, my eyelashes appear thinner. Is this normal?
Whether it is normal to constantly lose eyelashes depends on the specific circumstances. If it is a physiological phenomenon, it is usually normal; however, if it is pathological, it is not normal. If eyelash loss is severe, it is recommended to seek timely medical attention for professional diagnosis and treatment.
Similar to hair, eyelashes have their own growth cycle, including a growth phase, resting phase, and shedding phase. Normally, the growth cycle of eyelashes lasts about 3-5 months, after which they naturally fall out and are replaced by new lashes. Therefore, a small amount of daily eyelash loss is part of the normal metabolic process and generally not a cause for concern.
However, if eyelashes frequently fall out, it may be caused by various factors such as folliculitis, blepharitis, or other eye conditions, leading to sparse eyelashes or accompanied by symptoms like redness, swelling, pain, or itching at the base of the lashes. In such cases, this may indicate an abnormal condition.
In daily life, it is advisable to ensure sufficient intake of vitamin A, vitamin E, and protein, which can help promote eyelash health.
