In general, laser surgery can treat myopia.

Commonly used laser surgical procedures include excimer laser surgery and femtosecond laser surgery. These procedures correct myopia and improve vision by reshaping the corneal curvature through ablation of the corneal stroma or surface layers.

However, not all patients with myopia are suitable candidates for such surgeries. Comprehensive preoperative eye examinations are necessary to rule out contraindications such as corneal diseases and dry eye syndrome, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the surgery. Additionally, factors including the patient's age, degree of myopia, and corneal thickness are key in evaluating suitability for surgery. Therefore, when considering laser surgery for myopia correction, patients should undergo comprehensive eye examinations and follow the recommendations of their ophthalmologist to choose the most appropriate surgical approach.

After surgery, patients are advised to wear sunglasses when outdoors to reduce UV exposure to the eyes and to protect against wind and dust. Patients may also wear an eye mask while sleeping to prevent unconscious eye rubbing or pressure on the eyes during sleep.
