How to Treat High Myopia
I'm already -800 degrees myopic, and without glasses, everything is blurry. Wearing glasses every day causes pain on the bridge of my nose. How should high myopia be treated? Is there a way to completely improve it?

In general, high myopia can be treated by wearing eyeglasses, contact lenses, orthokeratology lenses, laser surgery, or intraocular refractive surgery. It is recommended to choose an appropriate treatment method under a doctor's guidance.
1. Wearing Eyeglasses
Wearing eyeglasses is a common, safe, and cost-effective corrective method. By undergoing accurate refraction testing and wearing properly prescribed eyeglasses, patients can achieve clear vision, reduce eye strain, and improve their quality of life.
2. Wearing Contact Lenses
This includes soft contact lenses and rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses. Soft contact lenses offer comfortable wear, while RGP lenses provide better oxygen permeability and clearer vision. They are suitable for patients who care about appearance or engage in specific professions, but attention to eye hygiene is necessary during wear.
3. Orthokeratology Lenses
Orthokeratology lenses are specialized rigid gas permeable contact lenses that reshape the cornea through overnight wear, allowing clear vision during the day without any correction. They are suitable for children and adolescents and can effectively control the progression of myopia.
4. Laser Surgery
Laser surgery corrects vision by altering the corneal curvature and is suitable for adults whose myopia has stabilized. However, for patients with high myopia and thin corneas, laser surgery may not be the best option.
5. Intraocular Refractive Surgery
Intraocular refractive surgery is suitable for patients with high myopia and thin corneas who are not appropriate candidates for laser surgery. A special artificial intraocular lens is implanted, which functions similarly to wearing an internal pair of contact lenses, offering excellent corrective results and reversibility.
Patients with high myopia should also pay attention to improving their eye usage habits, avoiding prolonged staring at electronic screens such as computers and smartphones, to reduce eye fatigue. Additionally, regular fundus examinations are necessary to detect and rule out retinal pathologies.
