Can rhinitis be completely cured?
I am 22 years old and would like to know whether rhinitis can be completely cured.

In general, types of rhinitis that can be cured completely include acute rhinitis and chronic rhinitis; types of rhinitis that are difficult to cure completely include allergic rhinitis and chronic atrophic rhinitis.
Acute rhinitis is usually caused by a viral infection in the nasal cavity and develops rapidly. Under a doctor's guidance, nasal mucosal decongestants such as oxymetazoline nasal drops and oral traditional Chinese medicine preparations, such as Tongqiao Biyan granules, can be used to fully control the symptoms of rhinitis, and most cases can be completely cured. Chronic rhinitis, where symptoms last for more than three months, may be caused by infections, environmental factors, or structural problems. Under a doctor's guidance, medications such as oxymetazoline and ephedrine nasal drops can be appropriately used along with nasal irrigation using normal saline to reduce irritation from viruses, bacteria, and secretions to the nasal mucosa. With proper treatment, chronic rhinitis may be curable.
Allergic rhinitis is caused by environmental factors, such as exposure to allergens like pollen and dust. Even if symptoms are effectively controlled, rhinitis can recur upon re-exposure to allergens. Symptoms can be managed by avoiding allergens, using anti-allergy medications such as antihistamines, nasal corticosteroids, and undergoing desensitization therapy, but it is difficult to cure completely. Chronic atrophic rhinitis involves atrophy of the nasal mucosa and a decline in overall nasal function, with symptoms including nasal dryness. Medications such as compound peppermint oil nasal drops can help alleviate symptoms, but achieving a complete cure is difficult.
The treatment of rhinitis needs to comprehensively consider the cause, severity of symptoms, and individual health status. Although some types of rhinitis may be difficult to achieve a so-called "complete cure," most patients can effectively control symptoms and maintain a good quality of life through appropriate treatment and management. Patients are advised to develop personalized treatment plans under a doctor's guidance and schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor disease progression and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
