What medications should be taken for gastroenteritis?
I recently developed gastroenteritis, with symptoms of diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and loss of appetite. What medications would you recommend to help alleviate these symptoms?

For gastroenteritis caused by bacteria, antibiotic medications such as amoxicillin and norfloxacin are usually used to eliminate the source of infection.
For viral gastroenteritis, symptomatic treatment is primarily adopted, such as replenishing fluids and electrolytes, using oral rehydration salts (ORS). Additionally, antidiarrheal medications such as loperamide, and antacid medications such as omeprazole may be used to alleviate symptoms.
For patients experiencing abdominal pain, antispasmodic analgesics such as anisodamine and atropine can be selected to relieve smooth muscle spasms and reduce pain. Patients with significant diarrhea symptoms can use antidiarrheal medications such as montmorillonite powder and loperamide to reduce intestinal motility and achieve the goal of controlling diarrhea.
Dietary adjustments should also be considered during treatment, avoiding oily and spicy foods and consuming more easily digestible foods such as porridge and noodles. Any medication treatment should be conducted under the guidance of a professional physician; self-medication is not recommended.
If the body develops any discomfort symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital promptly and follow the physician's instructions for treatment.
