What are the causes of varicocele?

The causes of varicocele are likely related to prolonged standing, which increases venous pressure in the scrotum. It may also result from congenital incompetence of the venous valves, leading to retrograde blood flow. Additionally, poor local hygiene and frequent masturbation may contribute to the development of this condition. Patients may be treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
