What are the effects of mannitol injection?

Mannitol injection is primarily used for dehydration and is a commonly administered injectable solution. Its main indications include the treatment of increased intracranial pressure and prevention of cerebral herniation; management of cerebral edema resulting from various causes; reduction of intraocular pressure; and preparation for intraocular surgery. Additionally, it may serve as an adjunctive therapy for conditions such as cirrhotic ascites and nephrotic syndrome, helping to gradually improve the clinical condition.
