Hazards of Mercury Overexposure
Disease description:
I was found to have elevated mercury levels during a blood test. What are the health risks associated with elevated mercury levels?
Elevated mercury levels can cause harm including damage to the skin’s outer layer, impaired immune function, neurological abnormalities, gingivitis, and even hematologic disorders. Mild mercury excess may result in superficial skin damage and gingivitis, leading to tooth pain; more significant mercury accumulation in the body may cause neurological abnormalities and compromise immune function, while severe cases can progress to blood-related diseases.
