Cyanosis (bluish discoloration) of a baby’s lips may result from exposure to cold outdoor temperatures; therefore, appropriate warmth protection during outdoor activities is essential. However, if lip cyanosis occurs frequently under normal conditions, it could indicate an underlying congenital disorder or pneumonia. In such cases, it is advisable to take the child for diagnostic evaluations—including echocardiography—to determine the precise cause.
