Dr. Li Bo
Complete paraplegia refers to a total spinal cord injury caused by complete disruption of the spinal nerves within the vertebral canal. In patients with complete paraplegia, sensory function in the spinal innervation zones is entirely lost; voluntary movement is impossible, resulting in complete loss of motor function, and urinary and bowel functions are impaired. Although full recovery is not achievable in patients with complete paraplegia, treatment—including pharmacotherapy, daily lifestyle adjustments, massage, and acupuncture—can yield certain therapeutic benefits.
