What medications are used to treat chronic otitis media?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed some hearing loss, persistent tinnitus, and fluid discharge from the ear. After examination, I was diagnosed with chronic otitis media. What medications are used to treat chronic otitis media?
Chronic otitis media can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications such as roxithromycin tablets, azithromycin tablets, and cefaclor capsules—however, these must be used under a physician’s guidance. Additionally, topical ear medications—including ofloxacin ear drops, chloramphenicol glycerin ear drops, and rifampicin ear drops—may be employed. If conservative drug therapy proves ineffective, surgical intervention may be considered.
