Treatment Methods for Hepatic Ascites
Disease description:
My elderly family member has developed severe ascites in the liver region, and we are very concerned. Could you please tell us: What are the treatment options for hepatic ascites?
Hepatic ascites can typically be managed under a physician’s guidance with diuretic medications—such as glutathione or compound glycyrrhizin tablets—to alleviate symptoms. In cases of severe hepatic ascites, paracentesis (a minimally invasive procedure) may be performed to remove excess fluid from the peritoneal cavity. Additionally, during treatment, patients are advised to rest in bed as much as possible and follow a light, bland diet.
