What Is High-Level Paraplegia?
Disease description:
Recently, I heard that a classmate from elementary school has developed high-level paraplegia. What exactly is high-level paraplegia?
High-level quadriplegia refers to spinal cord lesions occurring at or above the second thoracic vertebra (T2). In simple terms, it results in paralysis affecting most of the body. Patients with high-level quadriplegia typically experience tetraplegia (paralysis of all four limbs) and may also suffer from urinary and fecal incontinence. Causes of high-level quadriplegia may include natural disasters, as well as accidental events such as motor vehicle accidents or occupational injuries.
