What complications can rhinoplasty (nasal bridge augmentation) cause?
Disease description:
I feel my nasal bridge is too low and unattractive, so I’m considering rhinoplasty to augment it. What potential complications might arise?
Complications of nasal bridge augmentation may include postoperative bleeding or scarring at the nasal bridge site. If the patient develops an immune rejection reaction to the implanted rhinoplasty material, localized redness, swelling, ulceration, or even infection may occur. Since nasal bridge augmentation requires creation of a local incision, hypertrophic scarring may develop after wound closure. Patients are advised to carefully consider this procedure.
