Efficacy and Functions of *Caesalpinia decapetala* Larvae
Disease description:
My child frequently suffers from poor spleen and stomach function. The doctor at the hospital prescribed *Yunshi Zhu Chong* (larvae of the *Caesalpinia decapetala* borer). I’m quite curious—what are the functions and effects of *Yunshi Zhu Chong*?
The primary therapeutic effects of *Yun Shi Zhu Chong* (the larva parasitizing *Caesalpinia decapetala*) include promoting the eruption of rashes, tonifying Qi, and eliminating infantile malnutrition (ganji). It is commonly used to treat pediatric ganji syndrome, characterized by symptoms such as abnormal appetite, sallow complexion, dry and lusterless hair, and listlessness. Additionally, it is indicated for treating overexertion-induced injury (lao shang), manifesting as shortness of breath, generalized body aches, and reduced appetite. It may also be employed in cases of internalized rash toxins (zhen du nei xian) and—when combined with other herbs—can be used in the treatment of rhinitis.
