Can soaking raw gypsum in water treat halitosis?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been experiencing persistent halitosis, so I’m considering using raw gypsum (sheng shi gao) steeped in water. Can drinking water infused with raw gypsum treat halitosis?
Soaking raw gypsum in water is generally ineffective for treating halitosis and may even cause some side effects. Halitosis is often caused by oral diseases, such as dental calculus or dental caries. Therefore, treatment should target the underlying cause—for example, ultrasonic teeth cleaning can effectively remove dental calculus and thereby improve halitosis. Additionally, using toothpaste formulated to freshen breath may help.
