There are numerous causes of a fever reaching 38°C in infants. A common cause is their relatively low immune resistance, making them susceptible to viral or bacterial infections from the external environment. If the fever is accompanied by symptoms such as coughing and phlegm, it may indicate a respiratory tract infection, which warrants prompt pharmacological treatment. For fevers above 38°C, symptomatic treatment with medications such as acetaminophen may be used.
