What Causes Nosebleeds in Children?
Disease description:
Recently, my child has been experiencing frequent nosebleeds. What are the common causes of nosebleeds in children?
There are numerous causes of epistaxis (nosebleeds) in children. These may include dry weather leading to nasal mucosal fissures and subsequent bleeding, or frequent nose-picking. Medical conditions such as sinusitis, hematologic disorders, platelet dysfunction, or upper respiratory tract infections may also contribute. Additionally, trauma—including facial injury or nasal bone fracture—can cause epistaxis.
