Disease description:

The back of my head frequently hurts, and I also experience a foreign-body sensation in my eye sockets. My doctor diagnosed this as an orbital lesion caused by a sphenoid ridge meningioma. How can orbital lesions due to sphenoid ridge meningioma be prevented?

Dr. Zong Qiang
Sphenoid ridge meningioma with orbital involvement: Early surgical resection is the only effective preventive measure. If left untreated surgically, the meningioma will continue to grow over time and may compress adjacent nerves, leading to a variety of neurological symptoms. Oral medication alone is ineffective, as surgical decompression—i.e., removal of the tumor to relieve nerve compression—is the only definitive treatment for symptom relief and cure.
