Peroneal nerve injury has occurred, necessitating a lumbar puncture for further evaluation. This lumbar puncture is performed under anesthesia and is generally not very painful—there is no need for excessive concern. Additionally, the lumbar puncture will help determine whether the symptoms are caused by myelitis. Given these symptoms, strict bed rest is essential. Treatment should be tailored to the underlying condition and include neurotrophic (nerve-nourishing) therapy. Smoking and alcohol consumption must be avoided, and spicy or irritating foods should be excluded from the diet. Lumbar puncture is typically well-tolerated and causes minimal discomfort.
