How to Treat Sunburned Skin
Disease description:
While engaging in outdoor activities, I failed to adequately protect my skin from the sun, resulting in sunburn. How should sunburned skin be treated?
Patients with sunburn may generally seek care at the dermatology department of a reputable hospital. A physical examination is typically performed first. If symptoms are mild, a specialist may recommend topical application of compound indomethacin tincture to alleviate discomfort. For pain relief, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may also be prescribed. In more severe cases—especially when systemic symptoms develop—antihistamines may be administered to relieve symptoms; in certain situations, corticosteroids may be used to improve the condition.
