What Should You Do If You Develop a Fever During the Puerperium?
Disease description:
Recently, the weather has turned cooler, and since you’ve just given birth 15 days ago—during which your immunity is naturally lower—what should you do if you develop a fever during the postpartum period?
Fever during the puerperium is primarily caused by exposure to cold due to significant depletion of vital energy (Qi) and general physical weakness following childbirth. Treatment typically involves antipyretic and anti-inflammatory medications. Additionally, attention should be paid to dietary nutrition, and the patient should remain at home and minimize outdoor activities. For temperatures below 38.5°C, physical cooling methods—such as applying external fever-reducing patches or wiping the body with lukewarm water—are recommended. However, severe high fever requires prompt medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital.
