Gliquidone: Applicable Population
Disease description:
I have diabetes, and a friend recommended that I take Gliclazide (Tangshiping). However, when I went to the pharmacy to purchase it, the staff told me it was unsuitable for me. Could you please tell me which patient groups are appropriate for Gliclazide?
This medication is primarily indicated for patients with diabetes mellitus and those with mild renal impairment due to kidney disease. However, it is contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency; in such cases, insulin therapy should be initiated instead. Patients are generally advised to limit intake of high-sugar foods, consume moderate amounts of fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid spicy or irritating foods, which may interfere with drug efficacy.
