Hello, respiratory alkalosis may be caused by hyperventilation, which leads to excessive elimination of carbon dioxide from the body, resulting in a systemic alkalotic state. Seizures may occur due to involvement of muscles or nerves. Other associated symptoms may include chest tightness, chest pain, dizziness, perioral numbness, and paresthesia (tingling or “pins-and-needles” sensations) in the hands, feet, and face. Sedative therapy may be used to control emotional agitation, and oxygen therapy is critically important. It is essential to avoid known precipitating factors.
