If heart failure is caused by impaired cardiac pacemaker function, implanting a pacemaker can help prolong the patient’s lifespan. However, if heart failure is not due to pacemaker dysfunction—for example, if it results from inadequate coronary blood supply—pacemaker implantation will not provide effective treatment. Heart failure has multiple underlying causes, and management must target the specific primary etiology.
