What you’re referring to is likely gastric spasm. Gastric spasm is not necessarily indicative of gastric disease, nor does it inevitably progress to gastric cancer. It primarily occurs due to exposure to cold pathogenic factors or consumption of excessively cold or raw foods. The main symptom is epigastric pain, which typically improves after drinking warm water or applying local heat therapy. Gastric spasm does not inevitably develop into gastric cancer and is not classified as a gastric disease—these conditions should not be confused.
