I’d like to check my blood glucose level today, but although I have some test strips at home, they appear to have expired. Are the results from expired blood glucose test strips accurate?

The result is inaccurate. It is recommended that the patient purchase new test strips from a pharmacy to retest blood glucose levels, or visit a reputable hospital for professional blood glucose measurement. If the patient’s blood glucose level is excessively high, appropriate antihyperglycemic medication may be prescribed for treatment. Daily dietary control is essential: avoid overly sweet foods such as cakes and candies; limit intake of high-sugar fruits—including apples, bananas, oranges, jujubes (Chinese dates), and persimmon cakes.
