Can “panda blood” be transfused to anyone?
Disease description:
My blood type is “panda blood”—a colloquial term for Rh-negative blood, especially Rh-negative AB blood, which is extremely rare in China. People often say my blood is very precious. But can “panda blood” be transfused to anyone?
“Panda blood” can only be transfused to patients with the same blood type. In fact, “panda blood” refers to Rh-negative blood. Rh-negative blood must never be transfused into Rh-positive individuals—this is strictly prohibited. Therefore, the appropriate course of action depends on the specific clinical situation: if a medical condition arises, the patient should seek professional evaluation and treatment at a hospital under a physician’s guidance. If comprehensive assessment confirms that the individual is in good health with no underlying issues, no treatment is necessary.
