A healthy adult’s normal heart rate is typically 60–100 beats per minute (bpm). A heart rate exceeding 100 bpm is termed tachycardia, while a rate below 55 bpm is termed bradycardia. It is normal for heart rate to increase during or immediately after physical exercise—a physiological response. Some individuals may reach 110 bpm, while others may even attain 130–140 bpm; individual variation is common. If you experience palpitations or discomfort, it is advisable to undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG) for evaluation.
