These foods pose no adverse effects for individuals with thyroid disorders, and patients may safely consume moderate-to-liberal amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables. When eating raw fruit, be sure to wash it thoroughly.

Clinically, thyroid nodules are broadly categorized as benign or malignant. Benign nodules may be functional (hormone-producing) or non-functional. Malignant nodules exhibit invasive growth potential and may metastasize to distant organs or regional lymph nodes. Invasion of the laryngeal nerve can cause hoarseness or aspiration during drinking. Once diagnosed as thyroid cancer, surgical intervention is typically indicated.
