Can people with high blood sugar drink Red Bull?
Individuals with high blood glucose should avoid drinking Red Bull, as it may cause blood glucose fluctuations and hinder glycemic control.
Red Bull contains a relatively high amount of sugar; thus, patients may experience a rapid rise in blood glucose shortly after consumption. Frequent spikes in blood glucose can adversely affect health and exacerbate diabetes. Therefore, individuals with diabetes should avoid sugary beverages—including Red Bull, cola, Sprite, and others—during treatment.
People with diabetes should maintain adequate daily fluid intake. In addition to plain boiled water, they may moderately consume low-sugar beverages such as coconut water or fruit juice, or unsweetened, additive-free teas—including jasmine tea, black tea, and green tea—which not only help quench thirst but also support gut microbiota balance. Low-sugar or sugar-free milk and yogurt are also suitable options to supplement protein intake.
