Introduction
Fasting for a certain period can promote the body’s detoxification, regulate spleen and stomach function, and help calm the mind and relieve stress. However, the duration of fasting should not be excessive. For first-time fasters, it is advisable to transition to a light diet approximately one week before beginning the fast and gradually reduce food intake. During the fasting period, a small amount of honey may be added to drinking water to protect the gastrointestinal tract.

For a limited period, fasting can promote the body’s detoxification process, regulate spleen and stomach function, and help calm the mind and relieve stress. However, the duration of fasting should not be excessive. For first-time fasters, it is recommended to gradually transition to a light diet approximately one week before beginning the fast, progressively reducing food intake. During the fasting period, a small amount of honey may be added to drinking water to protect the gastrointestinal tract. Importantly, if any discomfort arises during fasting, the practice must be discontinued immediately—do not persist against discomfort.

(1) Promotes Detoxification: During fasting, reduced intake of staple foods may enhance metabolic activity, facilitating the elimination of accumulated waste and toxins, thereby improving symptoms of constipation and promoting regular bowel movements.

(2) Regulates Spleen and Stomach Function: Fasting supports the body’s natural detoxification processes, aiding in the self-regulation and restoration of gut microbiota, thus contributing to improved spleen and stomach function.

(3) Calms the Mind: Fasting requires maintaining mental tranquility and emotional stability, fostering inner peace and supporting psychological well-being.
