How to Interpret Negative and Positive Results on a COVID-19 Test Kit
The COVID-19 rapid antigen test kit refers to a diagnostic kit for detecting SARS-CoV-2 antigens. It enables self-testing at home, and results are interpreted by observing whether colored bands appear at the “C” (control) and “T” (test) lines on the test strip. Interpretation of results is as follows:
1. A positive result is indicated if colored (red or purple) bands appear at both the “C” and “T” lines—even if the “T” line band is faint.
2. A negative result is indicated if a colored (red or purple) band appears only at the “C” line and no band appears at the “T” line.
3. An invalid result occurs if no colored (red or purple) band appears at the “C” line—regardless of whether a band appears at the “T” line—in which case the test must be repeated.
Note: Rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 cannot fully replace nucleic acid testing (e.g., RT-PCR). If you experience any symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
