What methods can be used to stop a nosebleed?
Nosebleeds remain common in daily life, especially among active children. A simple fall can easily trigger epistaxis, and dry weather may cause internal heat buildup, leading to nosebleeds. So, what methods can be used to stop a nosebleed?
How to Stop a Nosebleed
A nosebleed can be managed using sesame oil application or dietary remedies. Sesame oil is highly moisturizing; most nosebleeds occur due to excessive nasal dryness, which causes capillary rupture inside the nasal cavity, resulting in bleeding. If a nosebleed occurs suddenly, dip a cotton swab in sesame oil and gently coat the inner walls of the nostrils—preferably focusing on the posterior nasal cavity—to alleviate capillary dryness. For heavier bleeding, a remedy combining sugar water and egg white may be used: first, place egg white into a bowl, add one teaspoon of sugar, then pour hot (but not boiling) water over it to gently cook the mixture, and drink it.

Nosebleeds are relatively common and usually easy to control. As long as the bleeding isn’t caused by an underlying disease and doesn’t persist uncontrollably, it can generally be stopped using simple home measures. However, if heavy bleeding continues unabated, medical evaluation at a hospital is essential—prolonged, uncontrolled bleeding poses significant risks to health.

In daily life, patients should avoid spicy or irritating foods and wear masks to provide adequate protection. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
