What fruits can be eaten after tonsil surgery?

These fruits are rich in vitamins and contain substantial amounts of water, promoting nutrient absorption, reducing inflammation, facilitating wound healing, and alleviating throat pain. However, they should be consumed in the form of fruit purees or juices to minimize mechanical irritation, bleeding, or infection at the surgical site.

Following tonsillectomy, two relatively deep tonsillar fossae remain at the surgical site. Healing occurs gradually, typically requiring approximately two weeks for the wounds to heal substantially. Dietary progression must strictly follow the physician’s recommendations and align with the natural course of wound healing—transitioning stepwise from liquid and semi-liquid foods to regular meals. Cold liquid foods may be introduced as early as six hours postoperatively, followed by gradual progression to mild liquid and then semi-liquid diets.
